The Murder of Manny Fleischman--The Last of the Black Sox

Pascal is seeking an agent or publisher for his first novel.  It's the story of 12-year-old James Overstreet, sole witness to a 1975 murder in Chicago's Burnham Park. But, due to bungling by the police and the state's attorney office, the killers go free, forcing James and his family into witness protection.  Thirty years later, can James, now an Arizona prosecuting attorney known as Stan Kobe, bring forth justice when he once again confronts the killers of Manny Fleischman, the last surviving member of the infamous 1919 Chicago Black Sox team? He can, but not without revealing a secret he's held for all this time: that his boyhood friend, Clayton Thomas--now a senator from Illinois who's star is riding withing the Democratic party--was a member of the juvenile gang who murdered Fleischman.

Here's what advanced readers are saying--

“THE LAST OF THE BLACK SOX is a nail-biting story based upon real life. Marcos raw, from-the-gut writing style gives readers a seminal insight into the unique way the South Side of Chicago has worked on the street level for the last 35 years.” Jim Nasella, Hollywood Writer/Producer and Attorney

Pascal Marcos THE MURDER OF MANNY FLEISCHMAN--LAST OF THE BLACK SOX  is a realistic portrayal of what it was like to be a homicide cop on the South Side of Chicago in the 1970s.  Reading it made me miss the job.  Thats how good the writing and how true the action is. Andy Abbott, Homicide Detective, Chicago Police Department, Retired

“THE LAST OF THE BLACK SOX is a riveting mystery novel involving the murder of the last Chicago Black Sox player.  James, as the young black boy who witnesses the murder, is captivating and his rise to success in the legal system as an adult is inspiring.  Mr. Marco cleverly blends elements of a true crime, weaving it into an extraordinarily believable tale of intrigue, suspicion, and in the end, retribution.  The writing seamlessly fuses the worlds of baseball, Chicago in the ‘70s, and the legal system with such finesse you can do nothing but keep reading until the very last page.” Deborah J Ledford, Author, Staccato, www.deborahjledford.com

If you love Chicago, the White Sox, and a thumping murder mystery, you'll love this story!”
